Labels:text | screenshot OCR: Global Neburg Jumping Cholla may be the meanest cactus! Visitors to the Sonoran desert are often shocked to find that no matter how carefully they tread, cactuses sometimes seem to attack without provocation! The jumping cholla is a bushy cactus built up of a number of bulbous fleshy segments. At the slightest tremor of the surrounding area, these segments fly off, embedding themselves in clothing or unprotected flesh. Our intrepid reporter tells us that removal of this specimen was very painful, with the cactus spines firmly attached to her leg. CLICK TO ENLARGE PHOTOGRAPH
